VERDADEROS AFICIONADOS

Spring 2009
EL PASO/ JUAREZ COMIC BOOK CREATORS FEATURED IN WORLD FAMOUS HEAVY METAL MAGAZINE!

ADVERSARY COMIX’ BATTERY ACID created in El Paso, TX, is being featured in the current issue of the world re-known sci-fi fantasy magazine Heavy Metal.

Adversary Comix is proud to announce the premiere of El Paso natives’, Alex Riegel and Ray Ramos’ original story and characters being published by the internationally popular and prestigious graphic magazine HEAVY METAL!

The story tells the tale of an intergalactic drop dead sexy female bounty hunter named Ginger and her slug like, cigar chomping, womanizing alien sidekick, Sparkz as they travel the interstellar star ways looking for the most gorgeous women to have ever existed on behalf of a mysterious benefactor/collector, for his private zoo-like collection.

Ray Ramos, the writer of the series is an El Paso native and was drawn to the series after he and artist Alex Reigel had a chance encounter with Kevin Eastman, the creator of the legendary Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and proprietor of Heavy Metal Magazine. «It was amazing!» Ramos states, «Alex (Riegel) and I just walked up to Kevin’s table at San Diego Comic-Con 2007 and we showed him our work. He instantly fell in love with the art and said he wanted work. Eastman said «you’re in.» and that was all the invitation and confirmation we needed to get our butts in gear!»

«It’s always been a dream of mine to be in Heavy Metal.» Riegel says. «When I realized is was going to be among the masters, such as Moebius, Jadorosky, Simon Bisley, Milo Manara, just to name a few! Anyone can get picked up my Marvel or DC comics to draw Spider-Man or Batman, but only a prestigious few can actually say, hey, OUR characters got picked up to be in Heavy Metal!»

And how does Juarez fit into any of this, well 656 COMICS, the premiere comic book publishers south of the border are involved in a major way. «When we started work on Battery Acid, we knew early on that we needed to include one of the best graphic artists we knew, and that would be the creator of the MEKSMEN, Oliver Lee Arce!
